A weekin Paris

A week in Paris with our perfumer, Ashley Santiago: a film shoot in the studio, and a visit to Givaudan, home of the Orpur® naturals at the foundation of our first collection.

It was a working week. We filmed in a studio, and we toured Givaudan, whose Orpur® naturals form the foundation of every fragrance in our first collection. The film is built around a single table. On it we laid out raw materials: branches and botanicals, citrus, glassware, small bottles of essences. These are the starting points a perfumer works from, long before a fragrance exists.

Field notes

What registers first is the air: saline and cold, threaded with coastal scrub and the particular mineral quality of fog that has come a long way over open water. This is the landscape Lost Coast is made from — not as metaphor, but as material.
